Starting in August 2016, the MercedesTrophy 15th season has attracted more than 6,000 Vietnamese golfers to compete in 30 qualifying rounds. In particular, the number of Mercedes-Benz owners has risen to nearly 1,300 (up 14% over the 2015-2016 season). Typically, 7 finalists will proudly represent Vietnam to compete at the Asian Final in Australia in August. Then, the best golfers will play for Vietnam at the MercedesTrophy World Final organized in Germany in October.
This year, with the purpose of improving the overall management and reputation of the tournament, MercedesTrophy Vietnam Final 2017 will be governed by the referees Level 3 from R&A/USGA (Royal & Ancient/United States Golf Association). The referees will conduct site-check for marking at the field, and then issue the local rules for MercedesTrophy. This is the normal practice applied by professional golf tournaments globally.
MercedesTrophy Vietnam Final 2017 will be organized at the 36-hole course of King’s Island, Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi. This is a world standard course built on natural terrain, surrounded by forests and mountains, contributing to a varied and challenging experience for the players.
15 years connecting with golf passion
MercedesTrophy was first launched in Vietnam in 2002 to now and has established itself as one of the most sought after golf tournament nationwide. Each year, this event welcomes over 6,000 golfers in the country. In addition to expanding the scale and increasing the quality of the tournament, MBV has brought the most valued HiO awards in the qualifying and the final rounds each year in order to increase its attractiveness and competitiveness.
Although the proportion of amateur golfers successful in HiO hit is just 1/12,500, there are many Vietnamese golfers winning with a single swing. There were three lucky winners during the MercedesTrophy Vietnam season 2011–2012, including two C 200 cars and one GLK. In particular, at the MercedesTrophy Vietnam Final 2015, MBV also launched the HiO Award for the "gullwing" SLS AMG Coupé worth up to 12 billion VND. In the qualifiers of the 2016–2017 season, there were two winners of the HiO with the C 200 and the GLC 250 4MATIC.
With the first solid step in the national playground, Vietnamese golfers have confidently competed in the international playing field. At the MercedesTrophy World Final in Germany in 2015, the regional team, with the participation of the Vietnamese representative, won the Team Championship with a total score of 199.
Over the past 15 years, MercedesTrophy has not only reunited those who share a special passion for golf and the Mercedes-Benz brand, but was also a platform for business network. More than 40% of golfers are entrepreneurs and business owners.
Mr. Choi Duk Jun, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Cars in Vietnam, said: “MercedesTrophy Vietnam Final is the annual highlight of the tournament season offering our customers a unique brand experience, thereby building customer loyalty as well as the perception of our brand as the leader in luxury and lifestyle.”
