Tiger Woods makes HUGE claim ahead of The Players Championship

TIGER WOODS believes he is playing well enough to win next week’s The Players Championship.

Woods is currently competing in the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte.

He is one-under after three rounds, nine shots behind leader Jason Day.

Paul Casey, three behind on seven-under, is still in contention for the tournament while Rory McIlroy shot a 66 on Saturday to move himself to three-under.

Tiger Woods though believes it’s just his putting that has let him down in North Carolina and that he will be in the running at TPC Sawgrass.
"I'm close (to winning a tournament),” Woods said.

"I'm hitting the ball well enough to contend, to win this golf tournament, but I just haven't made putts.

"I feel like I'm hitting the ball well enough and just trending in the right direction for next week.”

Woods has won 79 career PGA Tour events and 105 professional tournaments overall.
That includes 14 major tournaments though his last win from those four competitions came a decade ago at the US Open.

Indeed, Woods’ last win on the PGA Tour came five years ago at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.

The 42-year-old only returned to golf in November after a number of personal problems and a back injury.
